The Historic Heber Valley Railroad
450 S. 600 West, Heber, has a turn-of-the-century steam engine, which runs regularly scheduled tours year-round. It departs from Heber City and Vivian Park in Provo Canyon.

Historic Temple Square
(801) 240-2534. Salt Lake City was laid out with Temple Square as its heart. It is located in the center of North Temple, West Temple, South Temple and Main Street. In this 10 acre area you will find the Mormon Temple that was built between 1853 and 1893, two large visitor's centers, and the Salt Lake Tabernacle. The public is invited to hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's free weekly Sunday television and radio broadcast in the Tabernacle at 9:30 a.m. (the audience must be seated by 9:15), the Choir's rehearsal every Thursday at 8 p.m., and the organ recital at noon Monday through Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

West of Temple Square is the Museum of Church History and Art,
(801) 240-3310. Art exhibits and artifacts related to the L.D.S. church from the mid-1800's to the present are shown.

The Family History Library is located across the street just west from Temple Square. It is the largest genealogical library in the world and offers millions of original records on film, books, microfilm, and CD.

Just east of Temple Square is the Brigham Young Monument, a larger-than-life statue of the colonizing church leader. It was erected in 1897.

The Beehive House
67 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, (801) 240-2672, and the Lion House next door are the homes of early Mormon church president, Brigham Young and his family. Tours are offered at the Beehive House which is filled with antiques from that time period, and lunch and dinner are served at the Lion House.

The Joseph Smith Memorial Building
(801) 240-1266, located at Main and South Temple in Salt Lake City was formerly the Hotel Utah. Its lobby has been elegantly restored with a stained glass ceiling and intricate moldings. It is now a community center operated by the LDS church. Tours are offered daily as well as an hour-long film. Free tickets can be obtained by calling (801) 240-4383. The building also has a chapel, a store, two restaurants, and a genealogical center.

This Is The Place Heritage Park
2601 Sunnyside Ave. (800 South), Salt Lake City, (801) 582-1847, includes a huge monument that marks the end of the 1300 mile Mormon Pioneer Trail, and Old Deseret Village, a living history museum that recreates a typical Mormon community between 1847-1869. With more than 40 historic buildings and exciting daily activities, the park offers a delightful mix of education and entertainment.

Gardner Museum
1095 W. 7800 S., West Jordan, (801) 566-8903. It features not only a museum, but many turn-of-the-century retail buildings including a restaurant located in a mill.
